Where are the election results?
By Sisho Magagula
VOTERS at the Siphocosini chiefdom, which is under Motshane Inkhundla still do not know who won the primary elections under their umphakatsi.
As a result, residents are busy calling and sending the text messages to the nominees who stood for the primary elections, demanding clarity on who won.
Former speaker S’kakadza Matsebula, who was one of the nominees, says his mobile phone has been ringing non-stop for the whole week, with concerned residents wanting to know the results of the election.
Results of the primary elections under the Siphocosini Inkhundla are not indicated in the official list of winners of the primary elections released by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC).
This is part of the many hiccups that have been faced by the Chief Gija-led elections team in the primary elections.
Matsebula won with a landslide under this umphakatsi, netting 523 votes.
“People want to know the results and they are disappointed that the EBC has failed to publish the results under this area,” says Matsebula.
In the secondary elections, Matsebula will contest against the likes of Public Works and Transport Minister Elijah Shongwe and well-known businessman and football administrator Robert Magongo.
